    Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) Certification Training: Version 3

    Welcome to the Nevada Peer Recovery Support Specialist Training! You have taken an important first step towards joining the growing workforce of peer recovery support specialists in Nevada. Completion of this training satisfies the credentialing requirements based on the following learning domains set forth by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) and our state certification board:

    1. Mentoring and Education
    2. Recovery and Wellness
    3. Advocacy
    4. Ethical Responsibility

    The Nevada Certification Board (NCB) is the statewide certifying body that oversees the PRSS certification. It aims to provide the state of Nevada with a well trained, educated and skilled community and behavioral healthforce. The NCB works to ensure the safety of those receiving services and enhance accountability by applying rigorous standards for acquiring and maintaining certification. The board is also in charge of enforcing the code of ethics that govern the PRSS and other helping roles, including Community Health Work,  PRSS Supervisors, and Prevention Specialists.     Peer Supervision Certification Training

    Welcome to the Nevada Peer Supervision Certification Training course provided by Foundation for Recovery. The purpose of this course is to train individuals who will be supervising peer recovery support specialists in clinical and non-clinical settings; to provide guidance and support and promote competent and ethical delivery of peer services.

    Why Become a Certified Peer Supervisor?

    In 2021, Senate Bill 69 (SB69) was passed in Nevada. Among other provisions, the law now requires anyone providing peer support services to become state certified through the Nevada Certification Board.     This self-paced course, composed of videos and activities, is designed to help individuals best prepare for finding employment and re-entering the workforce. 

     

    These videos will cover a variety of topics, including practical tips on acing your interview and excelling at your new place of employment. It will also touch on the importance of communication and how to adjust your communication skills to fit into a professional setting, as well as maintaining boundaries and professional relationships. The video series will cover cognitive behavioral theory and the importance of reframing your mindset to do your best, personally and professionally. 

     

    This course should take two hours to complete, and will help you understand and develop foundational skills necessary to thrive in your professional life.

    Penelope & Systems Assessment

    Please complete this final assessment after your self-paced Bonterra training and the instructor-led Penelope workshop. This final assessment must be completed before interns gain access to Penelope.

    Interns will have three chances to pass this exam. If the exam is not successfully passed after three attempts, interns will be asked to attend another in-person Penelope workshop. You may use any notes you took during the workshop during this exam. You may open up another browser or ask other interns or staff members for assistance.
